How To Add Value To Commodity Salon Services
Thursday, September 22nd, 2011
It is not at all necessary to continually offer discounts when trying to gain new customers or promote commodity salon services. Customers like them, but what they also like are perceived good deals. In other words, instead of a discount, offer them something “extra.” This something extra doesn’t have to cost you a lot, but the value added to the offer will give your customers the feel that they got a good deal from you. For example, a partial service treatment, like adding a semi-permanent color shine to their usual hair salon service might be just the thing that will delight them.
Your stylists, often without thought, are always giving away tips and advice about hair care and such to their clients, right? Use this as a value-added service and you’ll find you have plenty of grateful customers on your hands. Since they’re doing it anyway, find a way to incorporated these mini-lecture series’ into your services, for example.
Watch and listen to your customers. They will tell you exactly what their needs are and you can find ways to use these ideas as value-added services. When you find an effective value-added service, use it whenever you want to liven things up, gain new customers, put some more life into your business.
When you add value to your salon services and products, you must update your business website. Consider printing the advertisement and offer each customer an individual print. Be prepared to promote your value added service or product verbally to your clients and how it can enhance their appearance and image.
Of course, it is pretty obvious why you need to tell the world about your new value-added services. It is up to you to figure out innovative methods of doing so. Perhaps a staff costume day or giving away partial treatment services or handing out cheap baubles with flyers announcing the new addition to your service line-up. Whatever you do, make it happen!
