Why is it the more I read about weight loss and nutrition, the more confused I am?

Because everybody thinks that what they believe is correct as they have evidence to support it.
To be honest after I had one meeting with a fitness expert and he contradicted everything his colleague said I wanted to scream. Until I got into the car and heard an advert which went against what I had just been told – I wanted to cry.
I was then talking to another person and she said that she found that everybody believes that their way is the correct way because it works for them. As scientists have found out that each of our bodies are different and what works for one person doesn’t always work for another, Scientists have found different diets and each one works – for that person who tried it.
I believe that the total amount in (food) equals total amount out (energy used) equals constant weight but a change in the equation will result if a difference to the weight.
I suggest that you find something that you can work with (eg for me I prefer 3 steady meals with a possible snack in the afternoon whereas a friend is a constant grazer) and then go from there.
Good luck.

That is because every diet has different rules and claims, the truth is, your body needs vitamins and minerals and fuel to work properly. diets that exclude certain food groups are never good for you, your body will be deprived of something! Eat from all the food groups, to get proper nutrition. The main thing on weight loss is, it doesnt matter what you eat just so long you are burning more energy than you take in. So if you typically eat 1800 and burn 1800 throughout the day, then eating 1600 would result in weight loss over a period of time.
All the claims on stuff that make/help you lose weight, its mostly just fluff to get you to buy products! Weight loss is simple, less in-more out = weight loss

because all people are different and have different views on things, also everyone is different and different things work better for them, if you want to find out wht works for you then trial and error is really the best way, and to be honest the worrying too much about what you eat can be just as bad for you, the best person to speak to s your doctor as he/she can find the best way for you as long as they listen and you tell them the truth, best thing to do is find out what works for you.

Not all diets and fads and exercises etc etc work for everyone the same way as one would try for themselves. Its all a just a way to make money and to sell you something so they can make money and compete to get the better rating on their products. I would first try your doctor. Your primary care doctor is the best place to start learning about nutrition and weight loss. He or she may suggest or ask you if you would like to see a nutritionist to help you better understand your goals and how to loose weight the right way. I would suggest and im not joking about this but if a cereal box says only 1 cup then you measure one cup of cereal. If the bread bag says one slice then its one slice of bread. Portion control is the key for everyone no matter who you are male or females everyone should follow this guideline in order to have a successful weight loss. I started doing this a few weeks ago and noticed i went down in size. So you have to be faithful with sticking to portion control otherwise it wont work. You can eat just about anything as long as its healthy and you measure ALL of your food. Remember to drink water. If you dont enjoy water plain theres always crystal light to make it more flavorful. So all in all yes its confusing but if you just stick to a portion controlled, healthy diet like yogurt, eggs, whole wheat bread, grains, oatmeal, grilled chicken, veggies, apples etc. You will or should start to notice a difference. Sign up for a cardio class and along with the measuring of the foods and drinking a bit more water if you already have you should be on your way to sucess! good luck
and also try to destress your life with a bit more peaceful time to yourself you will feel more energized. Forget about the world for an hour or maybe even 30 minutes and do some yoga or relax at a gym.
