Vincent Vegan and Marc Sage offer a weekly podcast discussing all of the ongoing things in the diet and weight loss world – we focus mostly on Low Carb and Vegetarianism but we discuss everything – here is something I found on the internet that I thought you guys might enjoy!

The world’s most beautiful and famous have swallowed his advice. He wrote one of the biggest selling diet books of all time, and it was based on his extraordinary belief that you could eat as much as you desire and still lose weight.

His name was Dr Robert Atkins, author of the Atkins new diet revolution. To some Dr Atkins was a hero, to others his diet was scientific heresy and potentially deadly.
In a series of ground breaking experiments Horizon investigates the truth behind the most controversial diet in history. Does the Atkins diet really work and is it dangerous?

    Limiting fruit? That’s stupid

  2. 79siggy Says:

    Ive been doing low …
Ive been doing low carb and counting calories. On a normal diet I could hardly keep my intake at 2000 cal a day. On atkins I ate as much as I wanted and I was barely pushing 1400, I just couldn’t eat any more.

  3. xMarucsFenixX Says:

    Yeah. I don´t want …
Yeah. I don´t want to eat unhealthy fats. Nuts are healthy but I get acne from some nuts. I almost don´t have nay acne but from nuts I get it. I have eaten a lot of carbs my whole life and never been overweight or fat. I can eat really high carb and look lean.

  4. TWCGroup Says:

    Veggies have never …
Veggies have never “filled me up”. They have never satiated my appetite alone. And no, you’re wrong, complex carbohydrates do not enter the blood immediately. If you want stable blood sugar don’t eat any sugar. I’ve tested this before on my low carb diet and my blood sugar is consistently 70-85 after fasting.

You’d be uncomfortable on a high fiber diet because fiber is indigestible and you wouldn’t be getting enough calories.

  5. Chaaarge Says:

    @TWCGroup it …
@TWCGroup it depends on which foods you eat. Veggies for example fill you up. and slow carbs will keep your blood sugar stable which means your apetite won’t go nuts. whenever you feel hungry eat more fiber. fiber fills you up without calories, so if you wanted to gain weight on a high fiber diet, you would be uncomfortable just because of the volume you’d have to eat

  6. TWCGroup Says:

    Any caloric deficit …
Any caloric deficit just makes you hungrier…

    I lost 20% of my …
I lost 20% of my body weight not counting carbs, going hungry or eliminating Carbs ( Oh delicious carbs!). I feel tired after eating fatty foods or loads of meat products… Fruit and rice is awesome:)

  9. eizhowa Says:

    They are not …
They are not tempting till you get addicted though. I broke that cycle. I crave what my body actually needs now!

What I actually meant is that things like the skin on a chicken (fattier) is less appealing that the lean meat because it feels gross to eat. Veg in oily dressings also turn into a soggy mash – The freshness disappear when you add butter or oil.

  10. howtogetwell Says:

    The nation is …
The nation is addicted to foods loaded with unsaturated fat. So I don’t see how you can make the case that fruits and vegetables taste so much better than fatty foods. They add unsaturated fats to practically all processed foods to make them taste better and sell more.

  11. howtogetwell Says:

    If you consult a …
If you consult a chart that gives the quantity of vitamins provided by various raw foods, you will no longer think fruits and vegetables provide more vitamins than meat, dairy and eggs. vitamin c is an exception, but, as you’ve said, you don’t even need vitamin c if you don’t eat carbs.

  12. Chaaarge Says:

    @fatisgoodforyou I …
@fatisgoodforyou I never said it was, but it sure helps create a larger caloric deficit

  13. fatisgoodforyou Says:

Exercise is not needed for weight loss.

  14. fatisgoodforyou Says:

    Saturated fat is …
    Saturated fat is nothing bad.

  15. fatisgoodforyou Says:

    Fruits and …
Fruits and vegetables have actually more vitamins than meat. But if you stop eating sugar, your body will need less vitamins… if in doubt eat some raw liver and everythings fine.

  16. howtogetwell Says:

    Meat fear and …
Meat fear and animal fat fear is a myth started by economist Ancel Keys in 1950. Meat takes 10 times as much land to make as grain. Meat costs 20 times more money to transport and store because of refrigeration. Food is the biggest drain on a nations resources. People must eat every day. They started animal fat fear to improve the economy and the food industry makes more profit.

  17. howtogetwell Says:

    Meat, eggs and raw …
Meat, eggs and raw dairy have many times as much vitamins as fruits and most vegetables. Grain is unrefined sugar. Grain and too many carbs cause heart disease and obesity. These are scientific facts they dont want you to know because the country would be bankrupt if you feared grain like you should!! Read Theyre Making You Fat and Sick found at Perfect Health Institute without spaces dawt kom.

  18. ida2x Says:

Come on, fat is how …
Come on, fat is how the body stores excess energy, whether you’ve had too many oranges, lard or 32 egg whites-it’s going to be stored as fat. if you have more of it than your body needs.

  19. mcdeals87 Says:

    You need to learn …
You need to learn how to cook meat properly. Because I would choose a rare striploin steak with salt & pepper over any fruit or veg.

  20. eizhowa Says:

    The problem is just …
The problem is just that fatty foods and meat do not taste as good as fruit and veg.

  21. rumford60 Says:

    Need sub-titles. …
Need sub-titles. What’s a low fat dot? What’s a dot? What’s A- tinches? I do like the part where Dr. Atkins is launched into space. If you burn your muffin with a torch you don’t get fat. That’s what I recommend.

I lost 132 lbs so far in 2009 on low carb, works like a charm.

  23. shaydyknight Says:

    the fat british guy …
the fat british guy don’t look like he has been on any diet.. goat neck fuck.

Also if you want to double time the low carb only eat lean meats.. no bacon or any sat fat shit.. 8 pounds a week i dropped. with moderate excercise.

  24. Frag1ty Says:

    No because proteins …
No because proteins can’t be stored like fat. And proteins can’t be turned into fats like carbs can : )

  25. joeylodes Says:

    People who don’t …
People who don’t understand Low Carb simply don’t understand the biochemistry. they must educate themselves!

Simplified .. excess Insulin is overall the bad guy.

LDL (the bad cholesterol) receptors are INCREASED in fat cells (adipocytes) by …. you guessed it … insulin!! Not good … it simply makes u STORE MORE FAT!

Also, G3P (Glyceraldehyde-3-Phosphate) becomes the glycerol backbone of triglycerides (fat!). and G3P is produced in CARBOHYDRATE metabolism!!! NOT fat metabolism!
